Privacy Policy

Core Privacy

Tal-E is a paycheck planner and money tracker that runs entirely on your device. By design, we do not operate servers that receive your financial data, and we do not have access to your budgets, transactions, accounts, goals, or paycheck history.

Transactions, budgets, accounts, goals, settings, and local backups all remain on your device. Exported files are created locally and remain under your control.

You can view, edit, delete, export, or back up your data at any time from within the app.

What Tal-E Stores

All data is stored locally in an encrypted Room database on your device. This includes:

• Account names and balances
• Paycheck allocations and history
• Budget categories and spending
• Transactions (merchant, amount, date, category)
• Savings goals
• Bills and reminders
• App preferences and settings

None of this data is transmitted to Slumbering Thread Studios or any third party unless you explicitly enable an optional feature described below.

Bank Sync (Optional)

If you enable Bank Sync, Tal-E uses Teller — a secure, read-only third-party service — to pull transaction data from your bank. This feature is strictly opt-in and can be disabled at any time.

What Tal-E stores from Bank Sync

• Merchant name
• Transaction amount and date
• Account name and last 4 digits only
• A transaction ID for deduplication

What Tal-E never stores

• Your bank password or PIN
• Full account or card numbers
• Personal identification information

Bank sync tokens are encrypted on your device using Android Keystore (AES-256) and are excluded from all backups. You can disconnect bank sync and delete all synced data at any time from Bank Sync settings.

Bank Sync is read-only. Tal-E cannot initiate payments, transfers, or any write operations on your bank account.

When Bank Sync is disabled, Tal-E is entirely local-only. No data from your bank is accessed.

Google Sheets Backup (Optional)

When enabled, Tal-E writes a read-only snapshot of your financial data to a Google Sheet stored in your own Google Drive account. This sync is one-way — Tal-E only writes to the Sheet and never reads from it or accesses any other Google data.

What gets synced to your Sheet

• Paycheck breakdowns and allocations
• Account names and balances
• Transactions (merchant, amount, date, category)
• Bills tracker
• Savings goals

The spreadsheet is created in your Google Drive and belongs to you. Slumbering Thread Studios does not have access to your Google Drive or the data written to the Sheet.

You can revoke this access at any time by disabling the feature in Settings, or by removing Tal-E from your Google Account permissions at myaccount.google.com.

When Google Sheets Backup is disabled, no data leaves your device.

Local Backups & Exports

Tal-E can create local backup files (ZIP archives) stored in your device's external storage under Documents/Tale Backups. These files remain on your device and are never automatically uploaded anywhere.

You can also export your transactions as a CSV file. Exported files are created locally and stay on your device unless you choose to share them.

No Analytics or Tracking

Tal-E does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising networks. We do not collect usage data, crash logs, device identifiers, or behavioral telemetry.

Children's Privacy

Tal-E is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Deleting Your Account & Data

To delete all local data

• Uninstall the app — This removes Tal-E and all local financial data from your device
• From device Settings: Settings → Apps → Tal-E → Uninstall
• From Google Play: Open the Tal-E store listing and tap "Uninstall"

To disconnect Bank Sync

• Open Tal-E → Settings → Bank Sync
• Tap "Disconnect" to revoke bank access and delete all stored bank tokens
• All synced transactions remain in the app but are no longer updated

To disconnect Google Sheets Backup

• Open Tal-E → Settings → Google Sheets Backup
• Tap "Sign Out" to revoke Tal-E's access to your Google account
• The spreadsheet in your Google Drive is not deleted (you can delete it manually from Google Drive)
• Or visit myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party apps → Remove Tal-E

Data we cannot access or delete

Because Tal-E is local-only by design, Slumbering Thread Studios does not store any of your financial data on our servers. We have no way to delete your data from our systems because we do not have copies of it. Only you can delete your data from your device.

Requesting deletion confirmation

If you have questions about your data or would like verification that your data has been deleted, please contact us at privacy@slumberingthread.com with the subject "Tal-E Data Deletion Request."

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and note the changes in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
